As an active Realtor since 1999, my real estate experience is enhanced by my island heritage. I am a 5th-generation resident in this beautiful state, where aloha is not just a greeting but a way of life. She is intelligent and knew what the build & purchase process is all about as well as local laws, regulations, general construction, what a house should have, etc. Plus, she has a good working relationship with everyone else involved in this, from the builder, seller, inspectors, and those at the mortgage company. Once we decided to look for a home in the Waimea area, Nalani added us to an on-line list to view any available properties for sale. A few days later we saw the listing of our dream Waimea property. Nalani was waiting for a flight home at LAX but promptly wrote up and submitted our offer prior to her flight and let us know we were accepted after she landed in Hawaii! Life changed course unexpectedly 5 years later, when my elderly parents shared their wish to move into our home with us. We decided to sell our Waimea house and purchase a bigger house to accommodate our growing household in the warmer climate of Waikoloa. Nalani worked with us on the complicated purchase of the Waikoloa property, which was in a brand-new development with no houses yet built. She simultaneously guided us on doing repairs and improvements on our Waimea house, and then sold our house in just 4 days, at a price considerably higher than our asking price. 2 years later, by which time my parents had moved out of our shared Waikoloa home and into an assistive care facility in Kona, we knew that we wanted to move out of resort living and back to a rural lifestyle. We quickly prepared to sell our Waikoloa home and purchase a home in North Hawaii. Nalani guided us with repairs on the Waikoloa home. It sold in 3 months, again at a higher price than we had initially considered. During the sale of our Waikoloa home, Nalani showed us a 5.5-acre property with a 4-year-old custom-built house in Ahualoa. We quickly fell in love with this amazing property and purchased it.In the 9 years that we have known Nalani, she has skillfully and deftly assisted us through 3 house/property purchases, and 2 house/property sales. Nalani Hance is a dream realtor. She guided me through the difficult process of buying my first home, from out of state, with grace and wisdom and aloha every step of the way. It was my life-long dream to one day buy a home on the Big Island, where I was born, but I had no real estate contacts there, had never bought a home before, and was living in California. I was so lucky that my auntie knew Nalani! Coming from the mainland to see houses, Nalani was able to arrange tours of nine houses with only a few days notice. She found me an outstanding mortgage broker, home inspector, surveyor… Whatever I needed, she was always there for me, and her advice was solid, every time. We ended up with a ridiculously nice house for well below asking. She saved me a lot of money, but it’s her character that I am most impressed by. Nalani is a first-rate human being, with exceptional emotional intelligence and patience, and she saved me a lot of anxiety, which was priceless!
